I have volunteered doing the IT and audio at my local mosques for years, and I teach at one most evenings. That is where all of this came from — real problems in real masaajid, not a product someone tried to sell you.
Heating that follows the prayer timetable
This is the one that saves real money. Most mosques either heat an empty building all day, or rely on somebody remembering to switch the boiler on before every salaah — and getting it wrong in both directions.
I install a system that switches the heating on a set time before each jamaa’ah and off afterwards, and then keeps doing it all year as the prayer times move. Nobody has to touch it. Nobody has to remember.

Digital signage screens
Screens in the entrance, the main hall or the madrasah showing today’s prayer and jamaa’ah times, the countdown to the next one, announcements and janazah notices. Portrait or landscape, and they run themselves — switch the screen on and it is showing the right thing.

- Announcements and reminders between prayers
- Runs on an ordinary TV with a small box behind it — no expensive proprietary hardware
I set these up using the Masjid 24/7 platform, and I have built display screens and an Android app on top of it — including prayer notifications and a watch face.
Lights, cameras and the rest

- CCTV you can actually watch from a phone, without a clunky app or a stranger’s cloud account
- Live streaming of Jumu’ah and bayans for those who cannot attend — see audio, video and live streaming
- Sound systems — microphones, speakers and loops that are actually audible at the back
Why mosques ask me
Because I pray in these buildings. I understand why the times matter, why Jumu’ah is different, what Ramadan does to the schedule, and why the committee needs something that will not fall over when the person who set it up is unavailable. And because it is already working down the road.
