Audio, Video & Live Streaming

Sound and video that works when it matters. I have run the audio and IT at my local mosques for years — which means I have spent a lot of Fridays fixing things five minutes before they were needed, and I build accordingly.

Audio systems

  • Halls and prayer rooms — speakers positioned so the back row hears as well as the front
  • Microphones — wired, wireless and lectern mics, set up so they do not feed back
  • Mixers and amplifiers — configured once and labelled, so anyone can use it
  • Multi-room — main hall, ladies’ area, madrasah and overflow all fed from one source
  • Induction loops for hearing aid users
  • Fault finding on systems someone else installed and left

A lot of what I get called out for is not a broken system — it is a system nobody was ever shown how to use. I set things up so the everyday case is one switch, and I write down the rest.

Video and cameras

  • Cameras for streaming, recording or overflow rooms
  • CCTV that you can genuinely watch from your phone, on your own kit
  • Screens and projectors for halls, classrooms and entrances
  • Recording talks and events so they can be shared afterwards

Live streaming

For the elderly, the unwell, sisters at home and anyone who cannot make it in — streaming Jumu’ah, bayans, classes and events so they can follow along properly rather than through somebody’s shaky phone in the third row.

  • Stream to YouTube, Facebook or a private page only your community can reach
  • Audio that comes off the sound system directly, not a microphone pointed at a speaker
  • Starts and stops on a schedule where you want it to
  • Recordings kept afterwards

Low-latency streaming, done properly

For Lincoln masjid I built a camera streaming system that gets the picture to a phone browser in well under a second — fast enough to be genuinely live rather than half a minute behind. Each device gets its own access token that can be revoked, so the feed is not simply open to anyone who finds the link. No third-party cloud account, no monthly per-camera fee.

I run similar streaming infrastructure for screen sharing and video calls on my own servers, so I am not tied to whatever a vendor is charging this year.

Events

Nikah ceremonies, fundraisers, conferences and school events — sound, screens, a camera and a stream, set up beforehand and someone there to run it on the day.

Talk it through first

Tell me what you are trying to do and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it, roughly what it involves, and what it is likely to cost. No obligation, and no jargon unless you want it.
