Websites & Web Apps

A website should earn its keep. Some businesses genuinely only need a few good pages that load fast and turn up on Google. Others need the site to do the work — take the booking, produce the invoice, track the job, email the customer. I build both, and I am straight with you about which one you actually need.

Straightforward websites

  • A handful of well-written pages that say what you do and how to reach you
  • Fast on a phone, because that is where most people will see it
  • Set up properly for Google — page titles, descriptions, structured data, a sitemap
  • Your own domain and business email
  • Contact forms that actually arrive instead of vanishing into spam

Websites that do real work

This is where it gets interesting. If you are still running the business out of a notebook, a WhatsApp group and a spreadsheet, a system that does the admin for you pays for itself quickly.

  • Quotes and invoices — generated, numbered, emailed and stored, instead of retyped every time
  • Customer and job records — every job, address, appliance and visit in one place
  • Bookings and tracking — customers book online and can see where their job is up to
  • Staff logins — office staff and engineers see what they each need to see, and nothing more
  • Automatic emails — confirmations, reminders and receipts sent without anyone remembering to
  • Card payments — taken online where that makes sense
  • Works on a phone — because the person using it is usually stood in someone’s kitchen, not sat at a desk

Work I have done

HeatingPro — a heating and gas business in Preston

A full business site with a staff portal behind it. Customer and appliance records, a job gallery, and QR code stickers that engineers scan on a boiler to pull up that exact appliance’s history on their phone. Runs on my own server with its own database, proper TLS, and email that reliably reaches the inbox rather than the spam folder. I moved the whole site off its old host and onto that server without downtime, and I still maintain it.

We Courier 4 U — a courier company

A public booking site backed by a proper API. Customers get a quote, book a job and follow it through its stages; the office sees the whole pipeline; drivers get their own app. Business accounts, automated notifications at each stage, and card payments.

Other sites

A care company, a personal brand site, an education platform, and an interactive 3D property viewer you can walk through in the browser. Plus internal dashboards and admin tools that never face the public but keep things running.

How it works

  1. We talk about what the business actually does and where the time goes
  2. I tell you what I would build, what I would leave out, and what it costs
  3. You see it working early, not at the end
  4. It goes live, and I show you how to run it
  5. I stay available for changes — I look after sites I have built for years

Talk it through first

Tell me what you are trying to do and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it, roughly what it involves, and what it is likely to cost. No obligation, and no jargon unless you want it.
